Travelling around (Transportation)
London is one of the world's most attractive places to visits, live and study; its long historical prominence echoes this fact. London has seen a strong growth towards a multicultural society; it's leading the way all over Europe to champion multiculturalism.
Travelling around forms part of the unique experience in living in London, there are various means of travelling around the city and all over London, no matter where you want to go you can always find a better and cheaper route. The means of transportation are as follows:

  • Busses: this is the cheapest and common way to travel around London. Buses in London are painted red and are unique on the streets of London; routes of buses are denoted by numbers. As you go around town you will get to know the number of the buses, don’t worry to memorise them, it will come to you naturally as you go around.

  • Underground (Tubes) - this is one of the faster ways to travel around London. There are different underground networks in London and these are differentiated using different colours for each route. Please see link below for travel map Standard Tube Map,the underground network is divided  into six network with zone 1 being the central area.

  • Over ground trains: these are operated by different companies like southern, south eastern, national rail; they are useful as they serve places with no underground networks link. These trains run by set timetables which can be picked up at any station and are of the same zone level with the underground. 

  • Docklands light Railway (DLR): these train service operates to link the city with docklands especially to Maritime Greenwich area.

  • Tram links: these are just like buses but run faster, tramlink is based around the centre of Croydon and links to Wimbledon, New Addington and Beckenham. Services operate approximately every 15 minutes. you can always use your bus ticket on trams
